While researching the smoking problem one usually finds only two reasons why smokers remain prisoners of nicotine. One is the habit and the other the addiction. These two excuses have been bounced back and forth through the years. In the fifties it was the habit, in the sixties it changed to the addiction, in the seventies it went back to the habit, and so forth. Now most cessation experts are being taught it’s the habit, however the truth is that smoking is only ten percent addiction and habit and ninety percent psychological
Some smokers may say that they have tried hypnosis and for them it doesn’t work. No, they are mistaken. Hypnosis, if done correctly with a knowledgeable consulting hypnotist, is the one and only thing that can finally break the shackles of nicotine for those smokers that find it impossible to break free otherwise.
Ninety-nine percent of all hypnosis happens in our everyday normal state of mind. Hypnosis is simply the process in which humans accept new beliefs, or replace old ones. There are many ways this happens in life. One way it usually can’t happen is by an individual telling themselves that they must change. The subconscious or automatic part of our mind has one purpose — survival. It can’t see or understand any scary future pain. It only knows past pain. So when a smoker uses a cigarette over and over to distract from negative feelings or some painful idea, their subconscious makes that reaction automatic. Once it’s automatic it doesn’t matter how much the smoker consciously wants to stop, the subconscious inhibits the change. The subconscious is the powerhouse of the human mind and is the boss in any conflicts concerning survival, wellbeing, pain, etc.
There are numerous reasons why many smokers continually return to smoking. They are usually feelings, and no matter how much the smoker thinks that a feeling doesn’t excessively bother them, the automatic part says, “Have a cigarette, NOW, just one NOW.” It could be a sudden sadness, a nagging guilt, a consuming feeling of stress, an overpowering feeling of anger, or a feeling of being out of control. These are some of the triggers that cause the subconscious “to help” the smoker through a particular situation by demanding a cigarette. It always worked in the past and therefore it causes an irrepressible desire now. Smokers who have quit for a while and then go back readily admit that it wasn’t the addiction or the habit that pulled them back. Most know the situational feeling they had prior to lighting up, but they are confused as to why their will was not strong enough or why one cigarette wasn’t sufficient. One cigarette is all it takes for former smokers to be right back smoking again.

The Solving the Smoking PuzzleTM gives the smoker these answers and many more. It unravels the puzzle and removes all the confusion. Once the smoker understands the total puzzle then they are empowered to finally and permanently throw away the poison forever. Hypnosis is then used to cement the new truths in their minds solidly so no future triggers will ever cause them to go back.
